Dear Barnum Families,
This has been a fast moving year with many wonderful celebrations, hard work and dedication! Our students are using a new math program. Zearn is a nonprofit learning platform that helps our students learn grade level math skills at their level.
We would like to celebrate Ms. Salina’s First Grade Dual Language class. 87% of the students have completed 3 or more lessons in one week. Way to go Ms. Sali’s class.
Traffic Observation: Last week we conducted a traffic observation. We saw many violations. The safety of your students is very important to us. Help protect our children by following the arrows to drop off and pick up your student in the mornings and afternoons. Do not allow your student to cross the street during traffic flow. Do not park by the main entrance, move further down to park.
Saturday School: We will continue providing Saturday school for the second semester. Saturday school will begin on January 27th. Our students will continue learning Literacy foundational skills, using ST Math to increase the conceptual understanding of their Mathematics skills, and building with Legos that will then come to life through computer coding.
Our students have fun while learning new things each time! To register your child to be a part of our amazing Saturday school, contact Ms. Daisy at 720-424-9590.
Friday Lunch Days: Our students enjoy having lunch with their parents on Fridays! You may ONLY have your child eating with you. Other students will not be allowed to join due to possible allergies. Please do not join your student during recess time. This is an important time for our students to work on their social skills and have time to unwind.
Parent MLE PAC Meetings: We look forward to our Parent MLE PAC Meetings at Barnum. During these meetings, we are getting to know each other and are providing information based on your feedback. We also work on activities that connect you with your student. During the November parent meeting, our very own teacher Mrs. Mejia, facilitated the meeting. Our parents had fun collaborating with each other.
Winter Concert: We are pleased to announce our second annual Winter Concert. Our students in ECE-2nd Grade will showcase their songs on Tuesday, December 12th. Our students in 3rd-5th Grade will showcase their songs on Wednesday, December 13th. Both concerts will begin at 3:30pm in the Auditorium.
We want to wish you a wonderful winter break! The winter break will begin on Monday, December 18th. Students will return to learning on Wednesday, January 3rd. When we return, our students will take the ACCESS assessment. Help your student feel successful during these assessments by going to bed early, arriving to school on time, and enjoying some breakfast with the class.

Estimadas familias de Barnum,
¡Este ha sido un año de rápido movimiento con muchas celebraciones maravillosas, trabajo duro y dedicación! Nuestros estudiantes están usando un nuevo programa de matemáticas. Zearn es una plataforma de aprendizaje sin fines de lucro que ayuda a nuestros estudiantes a aprender habilidades matemáticas de nivel de grado a su nivel.
Nos gustaría celebrar la clase de lenguaje dual de primer grado de la Sra. Salina. El 87% de los estudiantes ha completado 3 o más lecciones en una semana. Así se hace la clase de la Sra. Sali.
Observación de tráfico: La semana pasada realizamos una observación de tráfico. Vimos muchas violaciones. La seguridad de sus estudiantes es muy importante para nosotros. Ayude a proteger a nuestros niños siguiendo las flechas para dejar y recoger a su estudiante por las mañanas y las tardes. No permita que su estudiante cruce la calle durante el flujo de tráfico. No se estacione por la entrada principal, avance más adelante para estacionarse.
Escuela los sábados: Continuaremos brindando escuela los sábados durante el segundo semestre. La escuela de los sábados comenzará el 27 de enero. Nuestros estudiantes continuarán aprendiendo habilidades fundamentales de alfabetización, utilizando ST Math para aumentar la comprensión conceptual de sus habilidades matemáticas y construyendo con Legos que luego les dará vida a través de la codificación por computadora.

Días de almuerzo los viernes: ¡Nuestros estudiantes disfrutan almorzar con sus padres los viernes! SÓLO puede tener a su hijo comiendo con usted. A otros estudiantes no se les permitirá unirse debido a posibles alergias. Por favor no se una a su estudiante durante el recreo. Este es un momento importante para que nuestros estudiantes trabajen en sus habilidades sociales y tengan tiempo para relajarse.
Reuniones de padres MLE PAC: Esperamos con ansias nuestras reuniones de padres MLE PAC en Barnum. Durante estas reuniones, nos conocemos y brindamos información basada en sus comentarios. También trabajamos en actividades que lo conectan con su estudiante. Durante la reunión de padres de noviembre, nuestra propia maestra Sra. Mejía, facilitó la reunión. Nuestros padres se divirtieron colaborando entre ellos.
Conciertos de Invierno: Nos complace anunciar nuestro segundo Concierto de Invierno anual. Nuestros estudiantes de ECE-2.º grado presentarán sus canciones el martes 12 de diciembre. Nuestros estudiantes de 3º a 5º grado presentarán sus canciones el miércoles 13 de diciembre. Ambos conciertos comenzarán a las 3:30 pm en el Auditorio.
¡Queremos desearles unas maravillosas vacaciones de invierno! Las vacaciones de invierno comenzarán el lunes 18 de diciembre. Los estudiantes volverán a aprender el miércoles 3 de enero. Cuando regresemos, nuestros estudiantes tomarán la evaluación ACCESS. Ayude a su estudiante a sentirse exitoso durante estas evaluaciones acostándose temprano, llegando a la escuela a tiempo y disfrutando de un desayuno con la clase.
